Rowshon Uddin
My name is Rowshon Uddin but everyone calls me Raj. I am the Project Co-ordinator for Gateshead Town, which is one of the six boroughs in the Northumberland Tyne and Wear (NTW) FI site. I’m a trained and experienced Town Planner but left work of developing buildings and conservatories for one where I developed society and social care.
I’m excited about DRE because we’re not a series of small, isolated projects doing a patch of work somewhere in the urban wilderness alone. But an inspired top-to-tail enterprise of people, with similar ideals and hopes, working together as a family to ensure no more mothers, like David Bennett’s,’ loses their son to an out of date system of Care that can, should and will be changed for the better.
I have tried to set up good links with neighbouring DRE projects and aspire to see each one of us champion one key area of work. Hopefully, our combined outcome should not only add value and recognition to the overall achievements of the NTW FI site, but also sweep the board at the next DRE Awards in 2008! J J
Irene Ruto
Jumbo!!
I am Irene Ruto, one of two Community Development Workers on the BME Mental Health Project in Gateshead, which forms part of the Northumberland, Tyne and Wear FI site. Prior to joining GVOC, I worked with Dementia Care Partnership (DCP) supporting people with dementia and other mental health problems to lead an independent life. I am also a Swahili language interpreter for North of England Refugee Service and Northumbria Police. I hope my knowledge, first hand experience of Dementia and language skill will help advance the project into the community where, I feel, a real culture change towards mental health needs to happen. I am very delighted to join GVOC and my team, and I look forward to meeting new people and the challenges that lay ahead.
Coming soon a new community development worker....
